Congratulations to the UP Varrons members who are joining the 40th Commencement Exercises of the University of the Philippines Los Baños on April 28, 2012. The general graduation ceremony will be held at the DL Umali Freedom Park.
Topping the list of Varrons graduates are Belinda “Belin” Apuya-Lalap (Batch ’84), Ronald Garcia (Metamorphosis II ’99), Suzie Huelgas (Augustinians ’90), Leonardo “Leo” Lapie (Augustinians ’90), Larlyn Faith Aggabao (Xiane ’06), and Ma. Remedios Villanueva (NaCl ’08).
Belin will receive her master’s degree in human nutrition. She is a PNEP (Participative Nutrition Enhancement Project) coordinator and a university extension associate at the College of Human Ecology, UP Los Baños. Ronald will receive his master’s degree in forestry. He is an instructor at Southern Luzon State University in the Philippines. Suzie will receive his master’s degree in environmental science. He is an environmental specialist at Batangas Port Management Office of the Philippine Ports Authority. Leo will receive his master’s degree in forestry. He is the head and manager for environmental affairs at the Subic Bay Marine Exploratorium Inc. (popularly known as Ocean Adventure).
Both Larlyn and Remedios will receive their bachelor’s degrees in forestry. Larlyn is the recipient of the UPLB Leadership Award; she was the chairperson of UPLB-CFNR student council in 2011. Remedios is the recipient of the Pahinungod Award.
The other graduates who will be getting their bachelor’s degrees are: Lezette Adame (Star Gazers ’08, forestry), Adrian de Luna (JAM ’07, forestry), Christian Dionisio (NaCl ’08, computer science), Khay Ann Fernandez (Star Gazers ’08, agricultural economics), Ma. Luisa Regodon (Star Gazers ’08, forestry) John Alvin Reyes (Unlimited ’05, forestry), Pauleen Azazehl Supan (Spring ’09, communication arts), Ma. Verlina Tonga (Xiane ’06, forestry), and Vanessa Annette Valdez (JAM ’07, forestry). Those who will receive their certificates in forestry are: Lorie Alborida (NIPS ’10), Randelle Canicosa (NIPS ’10), Mark Anthony Hillario (NIPS ’10), Mark Vincent Malana (Tenacious ’10), and Jenet Tejada (NIPS ’10).
