We like to congratulate the following Varrons who were among the recipients of the 2016 UPLB Alumni Awards during the 98th Loyalty Day and First Grand Alumni Reunion held on October 9-10, 2016 at Baker Hall, University of the Philippines Los Baños:

  1. sis Asuncion “Cion” Karganilla-Raymundo (Original Varronettes), one of the Outstanding Golden Jubilarians, UPLB Class ’66;
  2. vrod Nestor Apuya (Batch Flood Victims), Distinguished Alumnus for Research (College of Arts and Sciences);
  3. vrod Manuel Bonita (Batch Magnificent Seven), Distinguished Alumnus for Public Service, International Sector (College of Forestry and Natural Resources).

Cion is a retired professor and the former dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, UP Los Baños. Manny is a forest management adviser at SUFORD in Lao. Nestor is currently based in Los Angeles and teaches molecular biology at the extension program in sciences and humanities, University of California Los Angeles.
