Good news!! Three alumni members of the UP Varrons are among the recipients of the Most Outstanding Alumni awards given during the 102nd Founding Anniversary of the College of Forestry and Natural Resources, University of the Philippines Los Baños on August 26, 2012. They are Rusty Abanto (BUTA ’91), Catalino “Lino” Blanche (21st BCT ’67), and Arsenio “Arsie” Ella (Apollo Twelve ’70).

Rusty is one of the recipients of the Outstanding Institutional Service Award (education sector). He is an assistant professor and Dean at Camarines Norte State College (Labo campus) in the Philippines. Lino is one of the recipients of the Outstanding Public Service Award (international service). He is a National Program Leader at the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, one of the agencies at the US Department of Agriculture. Arsie is one of the recipients of the Mancoso Award (Most Outstanding Alumnus). He is a scientist at the Forest Products Research and Development Institute in the Philippines.
