We are saddened by adding vrod Rod Fuentes in this slideshow. A bit reserved about his personal life but very vocal and articulate when advocating for biodiversity and conservation: “… the threats to biodiversity in the region are tremendous especially in the face of rapid development and the emerging demographic shift from rural to an urbanizing population. The sheer pressures and demands of the growing human population coupled with an increasingly wasteful and inefficient consumption patterns are creating ecological footprints that often have larger ramifications on maintaining the integrity of our ecosystems …”. Pare Ko (Hanggang sa Muli) – kinatha ni Ryan Paradero para kay vrod Rod
[…] pieces were created to honor the memory of Emerson “Emer” Jacinto (ESQ ’80) whose untimely passing on May 2, 2011 left a profound empty space in the collective heart of his brothers and sisters in the UP Varrons. […]
Nakakalungkot na balita . .
. . . Vrod Emer Jacinto passed away at a place where he loves most – the highest point of Mt. Makiling, the Peak II.
. . . Vrod Emer is well-loved by the people of Brgy. Bagong Silang. Everybody there knows him. Indeed, he is an epitome of UP’s battle cry – SERVE THE PEOPLE . . . . He had significant impacts not only to the lives of Bagong Silang residents; he had also touched the lives of many farmers, uplanders, NGOs and many other cause-oriented groups.
During my undergrad years as a UPVL member, he helped us a lot unselfishly. Every time we had fund raising activities, he was one of the Varrons who would help us without any question. I will always remember that every time we asked him to buy UPVL shirts, he would usually buy 2 sets of shirts (one for him and one for Vrod Eric). He really has a big heart to serve and to help. I know others can give better accounts on the greatness, kindness, and sincerity of Vrod Emer to help other people . . .
Let us all pray for the eternal repose of our beloved Vrod Emer Jacinto, a true Varron who showed us how to live a life with meaning . . . to abhor selfishness to achieve our collective dream of having a HUMANE LIFE/SOCIETY. Let his deeds be a reminder that each of us can really do our share in uplifting the plight of our fellowmen.
Vrod Emer, I am very proud of you . . . Rest in peace brother. Now, you’ll be one of the stars who will guide us in our daily lives. I know you’ll be one of the Varrons who will organize our Chapter there in heaven. God will be very happy to have you in His kingdom because you’re such a good person . . .
Struck with nostalgia looking at our beloved Vrods and Sis, and melancholy at seeing dear Sis Vicky A. and Vrods Armand Angeles and Armand Atienza. Another another time, another life may be.
Saddened to learn about the recent demise of sis Lina Barrion. She is one of the true academicians in the organization. A great loss not only to the UP Varrons but to the community of UP Los Banos as a whole. Rest in peace, sis.
I felt sad reading the names of vrods and sis that had gone home, especially my very beloved Armand Atienza whom I didnot see for a long time due to life’s preoccupation. He had been a big brother to me and his family was my second family. I shed tears and said my prayers.
In a lighter note, talagang matibay si Romeo Huelgas a? Sabi nga niya” ang masamang damo…hehehe.” love you Huelgas, LOL.
