Calling All Members and Friends of the UP Varrons!

Year 2012 is a big milestone for our organization — this marks the 50th year of the founding of the UP Varrons. As we approach this milestone, we invite you to actively participate in meeting the challenge outlined below.

Going golden

To celebrate this once in a lifetime event, the Varrons Foundation, Inc. (VFI) is spearheading a fund raising activity to support its scholarship project and other activities on the drawing board. As the development-oriented operational arm of the UP Varrons organization, VFI is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission in the Philippines since 1990 and has been providing thesis support for deserving undergraduate students in the University of the Philippines Los Banos. The support is currently set at a very modest PHP2,000 per year (there is a need to increase this amount to at least PHP5,000). The earned interest of the current VFI fund provides the source for this scholarship activity. However, the current interest earned is so meager that increasing the support is not possible without tapping into the fund principal. VFI also wants to expand the number of recipients from the current 1 per year to at least 2 per year.  To read more about VFI, click this link and to know more about its scholarship program use this link.

Our challenge:

  • Target amount to raise for 2011 and 2012: PHP 500,000.
  • Target number of pledgees: no target but considering the number of Varrons in different areas of the Philippines and around the world, the total target amount is realistically attainable for the 2-year period.

How to donate?  You have several alternative ways to do it:

  1. You can transmit/deposit funds directly to the VFI bank account at Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), Los Banos branch  (for security reason, the account number and other details will be sent to you when you fill-up the form below).  If you are residing outside the Philippines, remitting money to the Philippines is easier than ever. One suggestion: use Xoom.com.
  2. You can give your cash or mail your check directly to the VFI Treasurer. Details will be provided to you after we receive your message using the form below.
  3. If you have a Paypal account, you can use the donation link below. Clicking the icon will lead you to a secure Paypal website.  This account is under the name of support{AT}upvarrons{DOT}org.

Donations using Paypal

VFI will issue an official receipt (OR) for your donation. An electronic copy of the OR will be sent to you by email. If you have any question, you can always send us a message using the support{AT}upvarrons{DOT}org email address or you can use the Tudla Contact Us form.
