The Varrons Foundation, Inc. (VFI) is a development-oriented non-government organization registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on March 2, 1990. It is a voluntary organization with only 43 members from the over 1000 alumni members of the UP Varrons Ltd. As such, it is a subsidiary of the UP Varrons Alumni Association. As Varrons, the members have close association and strong commitment to the ideals of scholarly pursuits, youth education and development of practical skills. Therefore, a major objective of the group is to provide scholarship grants to deserving University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) students, among others.

However, the scholarship program has been constrained by sheer lack of funds. Therefore, the student support has been limited to providing thesis writing support grant to two undergraduate students per year. The grant is being coordinated by the Office of the Students Affairs (OSA) of the University. The initial financial grant was P2500 per student but was recently increased to P5000 each. In most cases, the money is used by the graduating student for expenses in the final processing of the thesis such as printing, photocopying and binding of the required six copies. The amount is generated by a trust fund by the VFI for this purpose.

Nineteen (19) undergraduate students so far have benefited from this grant support since the project was initiated in 1989. The recipients of the grant are the following:

Over the years, the VFI also has endeavored to develop and sell projects as a means of raising funds. However, funded projects have come too far in between. The VFI will have to focus its attention in this area if we are to sustain and improve our student support.
